About Our Tutors

  • Benchmark’s tutors are professional and highly qualified.
  • We conduct an extensive interview and require state teaching credentials and/or a Bachelor’s Degrees with two-years tutoring experience.
  • We review all references, complete background checks, and verify employment.
  • Many of our tutors are actively teaching in a school system or are substitute teachers. Our tutors enjoy the flexibility and convenience of setting their own hours. We have enthusiastic and happy tutors!

Where do the tutoring sessions take place for students?

  • We provide afterschool or in-home tutoring for your child. We tutor at your child’s school, in your home or at a nearby facility like a church, library, or community organization.
  • Benchmark does not provide transportation but will work with you as best we can to schedule sessions convenient for you and your child.

How do I know if my child qualifies?

  • If your child is on free or reduced lunch, there is a good chance they qualify for free tutoring services. Call us to see if your child’s school is on the list for improvement.
  • You may also check with your child’s school district Title 1 department as they will be able to tell you if your child qualifies.

Does Your Student Have Special Needs?

  • Many of our tutors are “special needs” certified and understand the requirements of a special needs child.
  • We work with Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) and can help your child excel and feel positive about themselves and their progress in school.

How is Benchmark different from other tutoring companies?

  • All children learn differently.  At Benchmark Tutors, we take that into consideration in the services we provide.  We believe in a hands-on approach and engaged learning.  We believe in the “whole child.”
  • All children need to be mentally and physically ready to learn, which is why we always begin our sessions with a 5 minute stretch/exercise and a healthy snack before every small group session.
  • We incorporate interactive games, and change up our activities often within each tutoring session.

Summer Tutoring

  • Summer tutoring can ensure that your child is able to focus on reviewing the past years work and prepare to be successful for the coming school year.
  • We help your child strengthen study and organization skills which can be lost over the summer months.

Public and Private Education

  • We tutor all grades, pre-kindergarten through high school.
  • We are happy to work with any public school who is interested in contracting our services.
  • We also tutor students who attend private schools or alternative education schools.

How do I get my child enrolled with Benchmark for after school tutoring?

Under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), students who attend qualifying Title 1 schools, and who meet other eligibility requirements (free or reduced lunch), may be able to receive free tutoring. You should receive information from your school regarding these qualifications. Call us today and we will tell you if your child qualifies and how to get started.

Thank you!
