Autism Support- Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears in children before age three, according to the Autism Society of America. A complex neurobiological disorder, it impacts areas of the brain responsible for social interaction and communication skills. One of our Autism Specialist is always there for support and can help create goals and work with your child in the comfort of your home.
Visually Related Learning Problems Evaluation- Vision problems in school-age children very frequently lead to learning problems. 80% of what a child learns in the classroom depends on the efficiency of the visual system. It is estimated that over 10 million children suffer from undetected vision problems due to the lack of appropriate evaluation. Many learning problems are related to vision. Our complete evaluation analysis will let you know if your child’s learning issues are related to vision or require an additional medical assessment.
ADHD/ADD – ADHD is a problem with inattentiveness, over-activity, impulsivity, or a combination. For these problems to be diagnosed as ADHD, they must be out of the normal range for a child’s age and development. No single test can diagnose a child as having ADHD. Instead, a licensed health professional needs to gather information about the child, his or her behavior and environment. Benchmark’s Licensed Psychologists can assess for Attention Deficit Disorder (with Hyperactivity) and offer solutions for managing your child’s learning goals and schedule.
Learning Style Evaluation – Information about learning styles and Multiple Intelligence (MI)) is helpful for everyone, but especially for people with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder. Knowing ones learning style will help develop coping strategies which compensate for weaknesses and capitalize on strengths.
Every student can be a successful learner. Our Learning Style and Multiple Intelligences assessment can assist you in becoming a better coach and advocate for your child. A Benchmark Specialist will provide a personalized consultation which will:
- Help you understand how your child learns
- Provide direction for support and strategies
- Develop strategies which will enhance your child’s learning potential
- Help your child experience genuine success
Understanding your child’s learning style and individual differences can empower you, your child, and your child’s classroom teacher.
Learning Disability Assessment – A child with a learning disability cannot try harder, pay closer attention, or improve motivation on their own; they need help to learn how to do those things. A learning disability, or learning disorder, is not a problem with intelligence. Learning disorders are caused by a difference in the brain that affects how information is received, processed, or communicated.
Children and adults with learning disabilities have trouble processing sensory information because they see, hear, and understand things differently. A thorough psychoeducational evaluation (also called a neuropsychological evaluation) is the key to understanding a child’s learning problems. It comprises a series of tests that is administered by a psychologist who has training in the diagnosis of learning disabilities. Benchmark’s Licensed Psychologists will do an in-depth analysis of your child’s educational strengths/weaknesses and help you formulate a plan to improve classroom achievement.
